Welcome to We Speak Spanish Language School
- We are a specialized Spanish School for short and long-term programs as a second language.
- Our students are primarily expatriates or residents living in Costa Rica. This population of students is immersed in our culture, language, and traditions. They want to learn to communicate with us.
- However, we have many students who live in Costa Rica for work reasons. They can be Diplomats or Directors of companies with offices in our country’s free zone. They may not need Spanish to work, but they need it to communicate during their stay. We also have student volunteers, digital nomads, businessmen, businesswomen, students, etc.
- At this time, we have four Campuses for in-person classes. The offices are in Santa Ana, Sábana, San Pedro, and Atenas. By the end of 2024, we hope to have 12 campuses around Costa Rica, Panama, and Nicaragua. We also have an online campus if you cannot take in-person classes.
- We have a lot of experience teaching Spanish and, above all, we love and enjoy our work, so many times the work hours go by very quickly.
- We love to positively impact the lives of our students, which is one of the reasons for our existence as a Spanish school. So, after learning about us, we welcome you to our study programs.
Meet our Director, Founder and Spanish Teacher
Wagner R. Freer Chan
Although my last name may not seem like it, I am as TICO as the Gallo Pinto. I live in San José and like to ride my bike in many beautiful places in Costa Rica.
I have been teaching Spanish for the last 14 years. From the beginning, I wanted to do different things when teaching Spanish. In 2010, I introduced the concept of Spanish Classes for Residents or Expats in Costa Rica since this population of students needed help finding Spanish classes in a group for the long term. Before COVID-19, I had my school in Escazú, and during the pandemic, the school was completely online.
In 2023, I decided to renew my professional career, and this is how WE SPEAK SPANISH was born, with new energy, ideas, study programs, teachers, and a broader vision of what we can offer to our students.
My vision is to be the leading Spanish School for Expats and resident students across Costa Rica and expand operations throughout Central America and Panama.
I love teaching Spanish and the relationship with my students and work team. I have no words to express my emotions about this project.
Being an instrument to positively impact our students’ lives when we teach them Spanish is priceless. That‘s why I’ll keep doing it for the rest of my life.
We hope to see you very soon in class!! PURA VIDA🇨🇷🇨🇷!🇨🇷🇨🇷!

Meet our Student Coordinator
I am John Boozer. I am retired gringo and have been living in Costa Rica for over 13 years - and love every minute of it.
I am typically the first contact potential students have with WeSpeakSpanish after the website. I answer the initial emails, assist them with their questions, and get them set up with an interview with Wagner, the school director.
I am also a student of WeSpeakSpanish and can honestly say that it is an excellent Spanish school. The programs are fun but professional and also quite flexible. Students can opt for private or group classes and face-to-face or online (Zoom) classes. We also offer several locations in the Central Valley.
I look forward to hearing from you!
